Local man, Toolio Runamuckas (51), only bets on sure things.

The 2nd-generation Greek-Australian says that the Greeks invented greyhound racing, and any other form of gambling that Australians enjoy losing money on.

The only reason he doesn’t seem to lose money on the punt is because he’s greek, and instinctively knows what is a winner.

Aside from his two favourite machines at the Rooty Hill RSL, he would much prefer to spend a night at the dishlickers than with all those novices at the horse races.

Toolio says his confidence in betting on domestic land animals comes from the fact that the “Greeks basically invented the doggies, mate”

“We did, mate. Same with the same with the Olympics, mate,”

“We invented the greatest athletic contest for mankind, and then we invented the greatest athletic contest for pets,”

“It’s too hot at Randwick or Rosehill. You can’t bet proper in the heat of the day. I’m no good until after dusk, mate”

“Get down to Wenty Park (Wentworth Park Greyhounds) if you want to see a real race”

“Its a much more honest game, not like the ponies. I’d bet on the trots before the ponies, mate”
