Local mate that works in advertising, Xander Levison is today letting his close friends know that he isn’t your run-of-the-mill Australian music fan.

By posting to Instagram his official votes for the Triple J hottest 100, Xander doesn’t even want you to listen to his favourite musician, for him it’s more about being told that you don’t know who those bands are.

This contrived list of painfully indie Australian artists signifies Xander’s official rebrand, from a run-of-the-mill music fan to a full-blown Bondi fuckwit, following his move to Sydney 18 months ago.

After finding success years ago as the only mate who knew about Mac DeMarco before he was a big thing, Xander is now also spruiking obscure garage bands that barely meet the criteria to be in the running for the Triple J Hottest 1oo.

That criteria being at least one play on the public broadcaster’s youth radio airwaves since January last year.

Xander’s list is made up of songs that have only been played once, they are as follows

DJ Dirty Pirate – Go & fuck yourself

The Sweaty Mistresses – Guys that drive commodores

Broken Hill Boys Choir – Julia Gillard (love song)

Crystal Methyl – Centrelink Day Dreamz

Joycar – Ha Ha How Good

The DMVs – Lax Out On The Lays

DJ Monty – Bondi Take-Over

Only a few of Xander’s friends feel hip enough to comment on his instagram post, and most of those who are have been urged by the advertising account director to ‘check out their old stuff’.

“So good man. They are from Taree. There’s a real good scene in Taree right now”
