After 10 on the trot, the Steel City of Newcastle is almost back to 1997-levels of excitement – as their boys in blue and red look like they might have a bit of a hum on.

Newcastle secured a narrow win during double extra time against the Raiders last Sunday night, continuing into the next round of NRL finals.

Meanwhile the womens side sit at the top of their NRLW ladder after a not so narrow win on Saturday, as they look set to go back to back with the Premiership.

Today, the spokespeople from steelworks and Newcastle Port have confirmed that in tribute to this finals streak, their PA systems will be playing non-stop Screaming Jets and Silverchair for the next couple days.

The iconic darby pies are have reformatted their menu to 1997 prices, in homage to the last premiership under the Johns Brothers.
