A mate that was lucky enough to meet Queensland rugby league great Johnathan Thurston while filling up his car in North Queensland has confirmed that everything you see on TV is true and that he’s actually a really good bloke.

The mate at the centre of this report, is Jordon (31) who isn’t like a JT-worshipper or anything but like most people in Queensland and some parts of New South Wales – acknowledges that the man is the greatest modern footballer to lace up the boots.

Born 25 April 1983, Johnathan Dean Thurston is an Australian professional rugby league footballer and captain of the North Queensland Cowboys and State Of Origin highest-point scorer in his position as Maroons halfback / five eighth over the last decade, which saw the iconic eight-in-a-row winning streak for Queensland.

During his professional NRL career he has frequently been cited as rugby league’s best player and quite arguably the greatest to ever play the game – but also it is commonly accepted that he is one of the greatest blokes as well, as was suggested by his 2018 nomination for Australian of the year.

“You know how he’s like a real good bloke and gives his headgear to kids in the crowd after a match” says Jordo.

“Like, I don’t think he’s putting that on. When I met him he was exactly like that. Like he could have told me to get fucked but he was fine to have a bit of chat”

It is at this stage unclear if Jordo was annoying the poor bloke but accosting him in the middle of public, but even if that is the case, it only reconfirms the point that JT is a good bloke in real life.
