Following the success of its popular reality show ‘Married At First Sight’, Channel 9 have today announced a new TV show that will allow 11 lucky contestants the chance to play for the English Cricket Team, despite never having seen each other (or a cricket game) before.
The announcement, in conjunction with the ECB, comes as England collapsed against Australia in the second Ashes test match at Adelaide, in scenes described by many on-lookers as ’typically English’. The ECB have now decided to implement a drastic change in tactics to change their fortunes.
“Obviously, we are disappointed with the result” said ECB chairman and man who keeps reminding everyone how good a year 2005 was, Andrew Strauss. “But we’re hoping that this move can help us get back into the series”
“If there’s one thing that’s been clear over the last 5 days, it’s that we will literally do anything to lose a match. Might as well make some money while we’re at it”
The decision to select the new squad via a reality show was informed by the roaring overnight success of Channel 9’s flagship series, Married At First Sight. Network executives are now hoping they can bring that same magical formula of giving terrible, narcissistic people 15 minutes in front of a camera, to the cricket field.
“We’re pretty confident we can make lightning strike twice here. After all, it’s worked wonders for our commentary team”.
