With the new development of the Golf Course Estate drawing more and more young families to the West Betoota, local plumber Deuce Charles (34) figured it was probably time to sell himself a bit better.

His missus, who works in marketing, suggested he try his hand at some marketing. Citing the case study of her old man with his real estate agency.

“Babe, when dad started putting his head on corflute signs and bus stops… It all changed for him” said Kelly, the missus.

“You need to put an ad on Facebook or something”

After being lead to the water, Deuce agreed to meet his missus halfway – his general distrust of the internet ruled out the idea of a social media page or even an online ad – but he was willing to engage in a bit of, what she calls, ‘outdoor’.

However, after spending weeks browsing billboard locations and car wraps, Deuce decided the best bet for him was to essentially inform fellow motorists that the bloke driving the ute is a plumber, or ‘plumbr’ as his new $3000 personalised licence plate suggests.

“They were out of Maroons plates” he says disappointedly.

“But at least anyone who looks at it is gonna know I’m a plumber”

When asked if he thought about maybe even creating a business card with his phone number on it, the big fella dismissed the idea, stating that most of his work is word of mouth anyway.
